Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) and roughly 12 km north of Attingal. The

History
Historically, Thachodu and the wider
Chemmaruthy-Varkala tract formed an integral part of the historic Kingdom of
Travancore. Under the feudal and royal administrative framework, the region was
predominantly characterized by agrarian landscapes, rich paddy cultivation,
sacred groves (kavus), and spice or coconut plantations framed by
undulating terrain and local water bodies.
Over the course of the twentieth
century, shifting land demographics, agrarian reforms, and systematic
subdivision transformed portions of these traditional agricultural tracts into
densely populated residential settlements. The locality is well-integrated into
the local socio-cultural fabric of Varkala's hinterland, retaining its
traditional village markers alongside modern suburban expansion.
