Vithura



Vithura is a small village situated on the way to Ponmudi, about 35 km from Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala. Surrounded by the Western Ghats and blessed with numerous trees and extensive green lands, it is the cross road to various tourist and religious destinations.
Vithura is also famous for the Adivasi (tribal) market, which is popularly known as Anthichantha (evening market). Tribal people in the area go to forest and collect edible fruits and honey which are sold in this market. Large number of people came here to buy the precious medicinal items from the market.
Major tourist spots such as Ponmudi, Peppara Dam, Kombaikani and Meenmutty Waterfalls, Agastyakoodam Peak and Vayuvanthol Waterfalls are nearby.
Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station is the nearest railhead. Regular bus services are available from Thiruvananthapuram Central Bus Station to this place

Vithura Bus Station is on the Thiruvananthapuram-Ponmudi road ( State Highway 45.) Kerala State Road Transport Corporation operates fast passenger and ordinary buses from here. Regular services are available to Thiruvananthapuram, Ponmudi, Nedumangad, Kattakada and Palode.
Kombaikani waterfall and Meenmutti Waterfalls, Peppara Wildlife Sanctuary and Vayuvanthol Water Falls are the tourist destinations near Vithura.
Trivandrum International Airport is the nearest airport.
