Nedunganda is a village located at Anchuthengu Panchayat in Thiruvananthapuram District of Kerala. It is a beautiful beach side village. Ponnumthuruthu Shivaparvati Vishnu Temple (Thuruthi Temple) is situated on an island called Ponnethuruth in Nedunganda of Anchutheng Panchayat in Trivandrum district. This temple is 6.5 km south of Varkala and 4.5 km north of Kadaikkavur.
One of the main deities Shivaparvati Vishnu Temple at Ponnumthuruthu is that of Shiva Parvati. Another important shrine is that of Lord Vishnu. The temple of Lord Vishnu is situated on the left side of the Shiva Parvati temple. The temple of Lord Ganapathy is situated on the right side of the Shiva Parvati temple. In the middle of the forest on the banks of the lake, there are two kaves with the deity of Nagaraja and Nagayakshi. Of these, one kav is associated with Lord Shiva and the second kav with Lord Vishnu. The temple complex has been built with modern architecture.
More devotees come to Ponnumthuruthu on Shivaratri day and Ayilyam. There will be special pujas here on those days. Except in the months of Mithunam, Karkidakam and Chingam, Ayilyam Ootu is held in this temple. Every year on the day of Shivaratri , many devotees come here to offer Pongal . Devotees are taken to the island by a boat provided by the temple for free. The Kalari Sri Bhadrakali Devi Temple at Nedunganda is associated with the Ponnumthuruthu Sivaparvati Vishnu Temple.
