approximately 40 to 42 km north of the state capital hub of Thiruvananthapuram

History
Historically, Praleyagiri and the
broader Chemmaruthy region were part of the former Kingdom of Travancore. Under
the royal regime, these areas primarily functioned as agricultural lands,
homestead gardens, and traditional crop tracts typical of the midland-coastal
transition zones of Thiruvananthapuram district. Over the decades, through
indigenous family settlements and community growth, the area evolved into a
well-knit rural and semi-urban residential community.
