Pattom is a picturesque place situated between PMG Junction and Kesavadasapuram at Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala. Pattom is surrounded by offices, hospitals and schools. The major landmarks include Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC), State Resource Centre, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Vaidyuthi Bhavan, Pattom Palace, St Mary's High School and SUT Hospital. Pattom is the birth place of Pattom A Thanu Pillai, the second chief minister of Kerala. Numerous shrines such as Pattom Subhramanya Swamy Temple, Mahaganapaty Temple and St Mary's Church offer peace and tranquility amidst the urban chaos to the visitors. Kerala Public Service Commission Office
The present Kerala Public Service Commission came into being by the transformation of the Travancore Cochin Public Service commission during the formation of the State of Kerala.
KPSC has three regional offices at Kollam, Ernakulam and Kozhikode which have been constituted for decentralizing state wide selections.
The secretary is the head of the office and is appointed by the commission with prior approval of the Governor. The chairman and members are appointed by the Governor of the State.
The various functions of the commission are carried out by the recruitment wing, examination wing, departmental test wing, advice/consultation wing, secret section, research and analysis wing, public relation unit, establishment wing, accounts wing, records section, fair copy sections, tappal sections and library.

Pattom St Mary's Cathedral
St Mary's Cathedral is a holy shrine situated between Pattom and Kesavadasapuram in Thiruvananthapuram. This ancient church is managed by the Malankara Roman Catholic management.
This imposing structure with a clock cum bell tower and several stained glass windows is an ideal example for the neo-gothic style. St Mary’s Cathedral was honored by the visit of Pope John Paul II, when he came to Kerala. The church premises houses the St Mary's Press, Seminary and other educational institutions of the Malankara management.

State Resource Centre
State Resource Centre, an autonomous organization, is located at Pattom in Thiruvananthapuram. Established in 1978, the center is managed by the union Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Elementary Education and Literacy, Government of India and administered by the Government of Kerala. State Resource Centre provides academic and technical resource support to all the agencies in the state engaged in adult and continuing education programs. The center aims to organize training programs for key resource personnel and extend assistance to the ongoing training programs in adult and continuing education.
