Poonthura is a coastal village in Thiruvananthapuram District of Kerala. The local population predominantly comprises of fishermen. A series of canals passes through the village.
Kovalam and Vizhinjam, which are reputed for their beaches, are located near Poonthura.
Buses to Poonthura are available from Thiruvananthapuram Central Bus Station and Thiruvananthapuram City Bus Station. Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station is the nearest railhead. Trivandrum International Airport is the nearest airport.
