History
Historically, Panayara and the wider
Chemmaruthy region were integral parts of the former Kingdom of Travancore.
Under the traditional agrarian layout of southern Travancore, the area was
characterized by extensive paddy fields, sacred groves (kavus), and
diverse agricultural lands surrounded by undulating laterite terrain. Over the
decades, through structural land transitions and migration, the locality
evolved into a densely populated settlement area. Geographically and
administratively, Panayara gained prominence as the core institutional base
following the formation of the Chemmaruthy Grama Panchayat in 1953
