History
Historically, Nadayara and the wider
Chemmaruthy region were part of the former Kingdom of Travancore. Under the
royal regime, the area was heavily defined by its low-lying paddy fields,
agricultural lands, and its critical role in water-based transport, trade,
and business. Nadayara functioned as a prominent transit and commercial
corridor when backwater navigation and boat transport were the primary means of
moving goods and people across the region prior to the widespread expansion of
modern roadways. Over time, the area evolved into a densely populated
residential settlement known for its rich cultural history, Islamic
scholarship, and traditional agrarian landscape.
