History
Historically, Chavadimukku and the
broader Chemmaruthy region were part of the erstwhile Kingdom of Travancore.
Under the royal administrative setup, the region was characterized by agrarian
tracts, sacred groves (kavus), and extensive traditional farming,
particularly rich paddy cultivation alongside spice and coconut plantations.
Over time, with population growth, agrarian redistribution, and migration
patterns characteristic of coastal and midland Travancore, the area evolved
into a well-connected residential settlement and local marketplace. The name
'Chavadimukku' reflects its local geography and history—combining chavadi
(denoting a shed, toll post, or resting place) with mukku (signifying a
'junction'), marking it as a traditional meeting point or transit stop near
community trading routes.
