Balaramapuram



Balaramapuram is a township situated 13 km south of Thiruvananthapuram city in Kerala. Founded in the year 1810 AD by the Travancore royalty, this town is well known for its hand-spun cloth and the skilled artisans who produce them. The Trivandrum Spinning and Weaving Mill is located in Balaramapuram. Balaramapuram handloom sarees are known for their simplicity and beautiful design. The finest cotton yarn with exquisite designs of golden jerry is used for the sarees. Balaramapuram Railway Station is on the Thiruvananthapuram-Kanyakumari railway line. It is managed by the Southern Railways. National Highway 47 passes a few meters away from the station.

Eruthavoor Shri Balasubramanya Swamy Temple

Eruthavoor Shri Balasubramanya Swamy Temple is an ancient shrine situated at Balaramapuram in Thiruvananthapuram District. The temple situated on the top of Eruthavoor Hill enshrines Lord Muruga, in the infant form, as the presiding deity.
Separate shrines are earmarked for Lord Ganesh, Nagaraja and Nagakanya. Devotees must take a flight of 242 stairs to reach this holy temple. Visitors can enjoy the magnificent glimpses of the sunset and expanses of green by standing on the hill.
Kavadi, Urul Nercha (rolling on the ground) and Muzhukappu are the main offerings at the temple. The annual festival organized in January is celebrated with gaiety and fanfare by the devotees.
This temple lies 15 km south of Thiruvananthapuram and is on the Balaramapuram-Kattakada Road. Regular buses are available from Thiruvananthapuram and Neyyattinkara.

பாலராமபுரம் ரயில் நிலையம்

திருவனந்தபுரம்-கன்னியாகுமரி ரயில் பாதையில் பாலராமபுரம் ரயில் நிலையம் உள்ளது. இது தெற்கு ரயில்வேயால் நிர்வகிக்கப்படுகிறது. தேசிய நெடுஞ்சாலை 47 நிலையத்திலிருந்து சில மீட்டர் தொலைவில் செல்கிறது.
நெமேம் ரயில் நிலையம் பாலராமபுரத்திலிருந்து 6 கி.மீ. இங்கிருந்து 4 கிமீ தொலைவில் நெய்யாற்றின்கரா ரயில் நிலையம் உள்ளது. திருவனந்தபுரம் சென்ட்ரல் ரயில் நிலையம் பாலராமபுரம் ரயில் நிலையத்திலிருந்து 14 கி.மீ.
எருதாவூர் ஸ்ரீ பாலசுப்ரமணிய ஸ்வாமி கோயில் நிலையத்திலிருந்து சற்று தொலைவில் உள்ளது.
நெய்யாற்றின்கரை பேருந்து நிலையம் இங்கிருந்து 4 கி.மீ. திருவனந்தபுரம் சர்வதேச விமான நிலையம் அருகில் உள்ள விமான நிலையம்.


எருதாவூர் ஸ்ரீ பாலசுப்ரமணிய சுவாமி கோவில்

திருவனந்தபுரம் மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ள பலராமபுரத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள எருதாவூர் ஸ்ரீ பாலசுப்ரமணிய ஸ்வாமி கோயில் ஒரு பழமையான கோயிலாகும். எருதாவூர் மலையின் உச்சியில் அமைந்துள்ள இக்கோயிலில் முருகப்பெருமான் குழந்தை வடிவில் மூலவராக காட்சியளிக்கிறார்.
விநாயகர், நாகராஜா மற்றும் நாககன்யா ஆகியோருக்கு தனித்தனி சன்னதிகள் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. இந்த புனித கோவிலை அடைய பக்தர்கள் 242 படிக்கட்டுகள் விமானம் மூலம் செல்ல வேண்டும். சூரிய அஸ்தமனத்தின் அற்புதமான காட்சிகளையும், பச்சை நிறத்தின் விரிவாக்கத்தையும் மலையின் மீது நின்று பார்வையாளர்கள் அனுபவிக்க முடியும்.
காவடி, உருள் நேர்ச்சை (தரையில் உருளுதல்) மற்றும் முழங்காப்பு ஆகியவை கோயிலில் முக்கிய பிரசாதம். ஆண்டுதோறும் ஜனவரி மாதம் நடைபெறும் திருவிழா பக்தர்களால் கோலாகலமாகவும், கோலாகலமாகவும் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது.
திருவனந்தபுரத்தில் இருந்து தெற்கே 15 கி.மீ தொலைவில் உள்ள இக்கோயில் பாலராமபுரம்-கட்டக்கட சாலையில் உள்ளது. திருவனந்தபுரம் மற்றும் நெய்யாட்டின்கராவிலிருந்து வழக்கமான பேருந்துகள் உள்ளன.

Chirayinkeezhu / Chirayinkil is a small town in Thiruvananthapuram District of Kerala. Places of tourist interest in the vicinity include the Sarkara Devi Temple and Varkala Beach. The 10-day Sarkara Bharani festival in March–April is a major event attended by devotees from all over the district. This is the birthplace of the Malayalam actors Shri. Prem Nazir and Bharath Gopi. Regular buses connect Chirayinkeezhu with Varkala, Kadakkavoor, Attingal and Thiruvananthapuram. Sarkara Devi Temple



Sarkara Devi Temple is one of the foremost Devi temples in South India. It is located at Sarkara, south of Chirayinkeezhu in Thiruvananthapuram District. Sarkara Devi, one of the forms of Goddess Bhadrakali, is the main deity worshipped. Lord Ganesh and Nagaraja are the sub-deities. The temple rose to prominence with the introduction of the famous Kaliyoottu festival. Sarkara Bharani, the birthday of the Bhagavathy, is the other major festival celebrated. These two festivals reveal a glimpse of the rich cultural past of Travancore. The temple is about 33 km north of Thiruvananthapuram and near the Chirayinkil Railway Station.

Sarkara Kaliyoot

Sarkara Kaliyoot is one of the major festivals celebrated in Sarkara Devi Temple, Chirayinkeezhu in Thiruvananthapuram District. This annual festival (February–March) is celebrated to commemorate the fight between Darika and Bhadrakali. It starts on an auspicious Thursday in Kumbham and ends on the ninth day. This festival is a dramatic presentation of the genesis of Bhadrakali and Darika - representatives of good and evil respectively. The main objective of the festival is to offer the elementary harvest to the Amma (the divine Mother), the defender of the land. The nearest airport is Trivandrum International Airport.

Sarkara Bharani
Sarkara Bharani, the birthday of the Sarkara Devi, is one of the major festivals celebrated in Sarkara Devi Temple in Thiruvananthapuram. It is the second great annual festival in the temple and commences in March-April and ends on Bharani, the tenth day. The festival starts with Kodiyettu (flag hoisting), nine days before the asterism of Bharani which is considered as the birth star of Sarkaradevi. It ends on the tenth day with Arat (holy immersion) of the deity in the temple tank. Lots of interesting ceremonies are connected with this festival. During the festival, thousands of devotees visit this temple to get the divine grace and blessings.

Government Ayurveda College
Government Ayurveda College, Thiruvananthapuram, is a premier institution teaching the ancient science of Ayurveda. A hospital is also attached to the college. Affiliated to University of Kerala, it was established in 1889 during the reign of the erstwhile ruler Shri Moolam Thirunal. Originally known by the name Kashayappura, it initially offered training to an annual batch of 15 students. In 1910, the Government Ayurveda College started a 5-year regular medical course offering Higher Medical Certificate. This certificate course was later named Vaidyakalanidhi. The college now offers graduate and post-graduate courses. The campus houses an out-patient counter and pharmacy for the general public. There is a library containing a good collection of books and periodicals. The college is conveniently located on the M G Road, near the Thiruvananthapuram Central Bus Station and Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station.
