Pathiyanadu Sree Bhadra Kali Temple

Pathiyanadu Sree Bhadra Kali Temple is located at Karakulam in Thiruvananthapuram District of Kerala. This temple is one of the famous Kali shrines in the locality. It is about 11 km from Thiruvananthapuram.

Kunnoorakkal Shri Dharma Shasta Temple

Kunnoorakkal Shri Dharma Shasta Temple is situated at Karakulam Village in Thiruvananthapuram District, near Karakulam Vocational Higher Secondary School. It is situated about 11 km away from Thiruvananthapuram, on Mullasserry Road. Here the presiding deity is Shri Dharmasastha, also known by various names such as Bhuthanatha, Ayyappa, Harihara and Manikanta. Literally, the word Kunnoorakkal means ‘covered by small hillocks’. Legend has it that in early times, the region around this temple was the abode of Ettuveettil Pillais who were the enemies of the Travancore Kings’ family. When the king fought against them, the temple was damaged and the King arranged facilities for renovating the same.
The temple has once again been renovated recently and the new temple complex houses the small shrines for Lord Ganapati, Nagas – the serpent gods, and Bhoothathan Swamy. A marriage hall is also attached to the temple complex. An annual festival is celebrated here in the Malayalam month of Makaram. The festival is celebrated with great pomp and splendor, where in the procession with caparisoned elephants carrying the idol of Shri Dharmasastha is the great attraction.

Mundakkal Shri Bhagavati Devi Temple

Mundakkal Shri Bhagavati Devi Temple is a divinely fascinating spot situated at Karakulam village in Thiruvananthapuram District of Kerala. The presiding deity is Shri Raja Rajeshwari Devi, popularly known here as Mundakkal Amma or Bhagavati, the symbol of prosperity, wealth and peace. Apart from Goddess Shri Raja Rajeshwari, there are shrines for Lord Ganesh and Goddess Durga, the personification of the active side of the divine shakti of Lord Shiva. Within the temple complex there are small niches with the images of Naagar (serpent god), Thampuran, Sidhan, Manthra Moorthi and Yakshiamma.
An annual festival is celebrated here on the day of ‘Kumbha Bharani’ which falls in February-March. During this festival, women from far and near come here to offer Pongala to their divine goddess, Bhagavati. Special pujas and offerings are also held during certain auspicious days. The temple, even today, follows certain traditionally maintained customs and ethnicity to safeguard the holiness of the temple.

Thirumanoor Shri Mahadeva Temple

Thirumanoor Shri Mahadeva Temple is situated at Karakulam village in Thiruvananthapuram District of Kerala. It lies on Eanikkara-Venkode road, near Mullassery Junction.

Vadakkedam Shiva Temple

Vadakkedam Shiva Temple is a highly revered shrine situated at Karakulam near Peroorkada in Thiruvananthapuram. The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Shiva.
