Shanghumughom / Shangumugham Beach


















Shanghumughom Beach is located 8 km from Thiruvananthapuram and is adjacent to the Trivandrum International Airport and Veli Tourist Village. It is a favourite spot of sunset watchers.
The beach located in a fishing village, ensures an interesting sight of fishermen having their daily catch. Facilities like an indoor recreation club, children's traffic training park and a star shaped restaurant are provided here. A gigantic, 35 m long sculpture of a mermaid called the 'matsya kanyaka' is the major attraction of the site.

Vettamukku

Vettamukku is a small settlement in Thiruvananthapuram District, Kerala. It is around 7 km from Thampanoor and 8 km from East Fort.
Vettamukku Madhava Swamy Ashram and Trichakrapuram Sreekrishnaswamy Temple (also known as Parakkovil), an ancient shrine dedicated to Lord Krishna, are situated here.

Trichakrapuram Sreekrishnaswamy Temple

Trichakrapuram Sreekrishnaswamy Temple or Parakkovil is an ancient shrine situated at Vettamukku, near Thirumala in Thiruvananthapuram. The temple situated on the top of a hillock enshrines Lord Krishna. Separate shrines for Lord Ganesh and Lord Sastha are seen in the temple complex.
Tradition recounts that this area was the exile place of the Pandavas. Locals believe that this divine shrine was constructed by the Pandavas and one can even see the foot prints of Bhim on the hillock.
Devotees must take a flight of 60 stairs to reach this holy temple. Visitors can enjoy the magnificent glimpses of sunset and expanses of green from the top of the hill.
Manippara, a massive boulder which gives out a chiming note when struck, is a major attraction here. Madhava Swamy Ashram is situated nearby. Trivandrum International Airport and Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station are the nearest airport and railway station.

Madhava Swamy Ashram

Madhava Swamy Ashram is a spiritual center located at Vettamukku, near Trichakrapuram Sreekrishnaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram. The ashram is in a calm and serene setting away from the rush of city life.
This sacred center is guided by Brahmasree Gurupriya Mataji, the famous disciple of Madhava Swamy. The ashram is home to the Samadhi of Brahmasree Madhava Swamy. Regular pujas are conducted upon the shivling installed here.
