History of the Temple A centuries-old sacred grove (kavu) later transformed into the Elamkavil Bhagavathi Temple. The legend of this place is intertwined with the ancient traditions of the Ulloor region. Long ago, this area was filled with forests and bushes. Recognizing the presence of the presiding deity (paradevatha) residing here, devotees later began worship. Over time, through the collective effort and cooperation of the local community, the temple was developed into its present state. The name "Elamkavil" itself indicates the connection to the ancient sacred groves of the region.

The Ulloor Elankavil Bhagavathy Temple is one of the prominent Devi temples in Thiruvananthapuram that bestows peace of mind and mental strength upon its devotees.
