Vallakkadavu is located in Thiruvananthapuram District of Kerala. This residential area is situated between Enchakkal Junction and Puthenroad Junction on East Fort – West Fort - Enchakkal - Valiyathura - Beemapally road. It is about 350 m off the Kazhakuttam – Kovalam NH bypass. Vallakkadavu is around 350 m from Enchakkal Junction, 1.2 km from West Fort, 2.3 km from East Fort, 2.3 km from Valiyathura, 3 km from Beemapally and 4.5 km from Poonthura. Main landmarks are Vallakkadavu Yatheemkhana, Vallakkadavu Juma Masjid etc. Vallakadavu is an historic place on the Parvathi-Puthenar Canal that originally linked Kanyakumari (Cape Comorin) in the S to Kochi (Cochin) in the N. Vallakadavu means 'the boat landing place' and is actually where the great and benevolent king of Travancore used to keep his palace boats for travelling along the cabal. Nearby are the old boathouses currently beng restored and developed by the government of Kerala.
